New to 2020, we’re delighted to introduce “The Hundon Marathon” a fun trail alternative to the country’s iconic marathon!
Soak up idyllic views of the Suffolk Countryside, including AONB and enjoy some lighthearted London themed fun along the way!
This is an ideal race for those that didn’t make the elusive London Marathon ballot or for those who simply prefer the countryside to the capital. The relaxed and friendly vibe, well trodden paths, generous cut offs and beautiful scenery also make this an ideal first trail marathon for those new to the sport.
Date: Sunday 4th October 2020
Cut Off: 8 Hours
Age Limit: 18 Years
Route: Shortly after leaving Hundon, the route picks up the idyllic Dedham Vale AONB Stour Valley path towards the medieval wool town of Clare, before continuing along the popular Bury to Clare Walk (in reverse) finishing just short of Bury St Edmunds, in Whepsted.
Hundon > Kedington > Stoke By Clare > Clare > Poslingford > Stansfield > Hawkedon > Somerton > Brockley > Whepstead
The gently undulating route includes road crossings, woodland, meadows, river paths, and quiet country lanes. The route will be well marked using a combination of waymarkers, limestone chalk paint and hi-vis tape.
