New to 2020, we’re delighted to introduce “The Hundon Marathon” a fun trail alternative to the country’s iconic marathon!
Soak up idyllic views of the Suffolk Countryside, including AONB.
This is an ideal race for those that didn’t make the elusive London Marathon ballot or for those who simply prefer the countryside to the capital. The relaxed and friendly vibe, well trodden paths, generous cut offs and beautiful scenery also make this an ideal first trail marathon for those new to the sport.

Route: Shortly after leaving Hundon, the route picks up the idyllic Stour Valley path towards the medieval wool town of Clare, continuing on footpaths around some of Suffolk’s prettiest villages, before joining the popular Clare to Bury path finishing just short of Bury St Edmunds, in Whepsted.

The undulating route includes woodland, meadows, river paths, and quiet country lanes, there are a number of road crossings to be aware off . The route will be well marked using a combination of waymarkers, limestone chalk paint and hi-vis tape.

Please note this is a cupless race. Fresh drinking water will be available for you to refill your bottles at the start, finish and each checkpoint but no cups will be provided. This is to reduce single use waste.

Please note: Parking in the village hall is limited. We recommend parking at the finish in Whepstead and getting a shuttle bus to the start at 8:45am (£7).

The registration desk at the race start will be open from 09:00 am where race numbers should be collected up until 11am. Please note race numbers and chips will not be sent out in the post prior to the event.
Please allow sufficient time to collect and attach your bib prior to your run.
This is a multi-terrain event and all competitors enter it at their own risk. While medical assistance is provided for the duration of the event no liability will be accepted by the individual race organisers or land owners for any injury incurred by entering this race.
Pictures and video footage may be used on the Raw Trails website or that of our sponsors and in advertising material and media write-ups. All competitors entering the race agree to their photograph being used for these purposes.
It is a condition of entry that all competitors agree to the terms and conditions as set out on the Raw Trails website.

Whilst these safety measures are far from ideal, we hope you understand they are necessary for the time being.
Shuttle Bus: A shuttle bus is available to book to take you to the start of Hundon Marathon on Sunday October 4th. The coach leaves promptly at 8:45 from Whepstead Village Hall. Bury Rd, Bury Saint Edmunds IP29 4TA and costs £7
Qualified First Aiders will be on hand at the race head quarters to assist with any emergency injuries. Please note you should seek medical advice from your local GP if you are in any doubt as to your health in competing in this event. The organisation will not be held responsible for any injury, accident, loss or damage that may arise before, during or after the event as a consequence of a competitor’s participation in the race.
